Shelf
A shelf can do more than hold things. It can help a room feel like the person living there.
See the pieceThe point of view
The work starts with everyday life: what a room needs, what an object could become, and what would make a home feel more like the person living in it.
The Artist Annex sees potential in furniture that might otherwise be ignored, discarded, or treated as ordinary. A cabinet, dresser, shelf, radio case, or table can be repaired, recolored, given better function, and returned to the home with a purpose that fits the way people actually live.
"Why throw something away that's good, that can be given a new life, given new purpose? And then it has a story."
Process
This is not the safe sell. The work is practical, detailed, and led by an artist's eye for color, finish, proportion, and story.
The artist spots potential in overlooked furniture: good bones, useful drawers, an interesting cabinet, or a shape worth saving.
Prep comes first: sanding, spot filling, finish work, hardware choices, and practical changes that help the piece last.
Color, pattern, tops, legs, interiors, and surface details are chosen around the piece's new role in the home.
The finished piece is ready for real rooms and real routines: storage, display, bedside use, kitchen use, or a daily moment of joy.
